Mine Surveyor
Reporting to the Mine Engineer, the Mine Surveyor is responsible to perform daily survey activities for pit advancement, dump and geotechnical monitoring, drillholes layouts and blastholes pick-up. Mine Surveyor Contract Position – 6 Months Specific Responsibilities will include: Surveying: Daily pit and dump surveys of the mining activities and elevation monitoring Ensure pit wall slopes are within tolerances; Generate as built topographical maps for pit, dumps and stockpiles; Ensure dumps/backfills are on design, at limits and monitor elevation/grade of the dumps, pits and stockpiles; Stockpile activities (reclamation/building) and monitoring; Pit prisms and update the geotechnical database; Month end period survey of mining activities in the pit and the stockpiles; Layout drill holes, survey blast holes and definition drilling; Stake out ore and waste contacts; Plot results of the survey activities. Promote improvements in all areas to meet or exceed set targets: Involved in margin improvements (Agrium/Contractor); Looking at continuous improvement opportunities; Participate and lead meetings to conduct such improvement opportunities; Act as a strong safety leader in all aspects of the open pit operation. Provide leadership in team activities. Qualifications of the Position Include: A Mining Technical degree and/or a combination of mine survey experience; Knowledge of GPS, total station survey equipment and mine survey principle; Have 2-6 years of open pit, truck/shovel mining experience; Able to handle a large and varied workload; Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, problem solving, and organization skills Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision Experience working with MS Office, SAP, CAD, and Mine Planning software such as Surpac. The candidates with applicable experience will be given the advantage but the candidates that have hands on open pit experience and no survey background will be considered as well. apply
